Swap the large wire between the starter and the solenoid so that both wires are on the side fed from the battery. At the starter connect this to the large main terminal. Run a new smaller wire from the large output terminal of the solenoid (Where you just removed the wire from in 1 above) to the solenoid terminal on the new starter. That’s it.

Expert. 286 Answers. Hi. Yes, if you are little mechanically minded, and keen, I don´t see why not. Remember to disconnect the battery. Support the car safely on axle stands, if jacking up. And watch those knuckles (Ouch!).. undoing those starter, bell housing bolts ! There seems to have been a run of Jaguar S Type, & X Type Starter
